Perfect dish for a fall day or evening...

2 large apples

2 tablespoons maple syrup

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Dash of pepper

Core apples, leaving skin on if desired, coarsely chop.  In small pot, combine all ingredients with 1 tablespoon of water; over medium-high heat, bring to boil.  Reduce to simmer; cook until very soft, about 15 minutes.  Blend with immersion blender or cool slightly and process in food processor until smooth.
